Alumni Design Series
Mixit has launched its first Alumni driven social enterprise with a design series
The idea was sparked during our January 2020 Alumni training retreat. The squad were all keen to utilise other life skills and strengths outside of facilitating workshops, and develop further as individuals and as a team.
Izadine, one of the squad members, is the first Alumni to pitch his idea and together with the Mixit team and some professional mentorship with our designer, we now have cool T-shirts to flaunt and make available for purchase.
What’s great is that every cent from each sale goes back into the enterprise. Your support will enable more opportunities and growth for the alumni. We can dream bigger and do more for other young people because this initiative will be run by youth for youth.
In this world people don’t always get the same opportunities, tho’ I always thought that the sky is the limit. In my design I used the moon to represent Mixit and how it has helped navigate my life to move forward. I now realise the sky ain’t the limit - so I aim for the moon and the purple boy dancing is free because he doesn’t care what people say, because at the end of the day only you can navigate yourself to the room, or to the moon.
This design opportunity has given me more confidence to get out of my comfort zone and do what I love. Working with the Mixit professional designer helped me fit everything in so it was print ready, which helped me gain more skills. I can’t wait to do more, and I can’t wait to see where this takes me.
